I have an elegant vintage 1946 Yardley advert to share today featuring a man and woman dressed stylishly for a trip to a horse racing event.
The picture shows the couple wearing hats surrounded by small sketches associated with horse racing. At the bottom of the page in the right-hand corner, there’s a picture showing three pieces of Yardley cosmetics which include a lipstick, powder and makeup base.
The picture was scanned from a publication that I own called Housewife which was the 1946 June edition and cost nine-pence.
This is the original scan of the advert:
This is my cleaned up version if you wish to download and use it for an art, craft or media project:
This is the front cover of the Housewife magazine that I own:
I don’t pretend to be an ordinary housewife.
