Here is a vintage woollen coat knitting pattern from 1945 consisting of the front cover, the knitting instructions and a small paragraph of the coat’s details.
This woollen coat knitting pattern was scanned from my own personal collection of vintage material. I’m not a knitter but I do have an avid interest in vintage fashion.
I uploaded this picture mainly to show the modern woman from 1945, with her hair neatly pinned up, wearing the finished coat; complete with large flower shaped buttons and threaded cord.
This is a restored image of the original pattern.
This is a small paragraph about the coat:
It is a little known fact that much like birds, who can always find north, knitters can always find yarn.
Below is a short 44 second video showing a few “glamorous knitted accessories being modelled from 1945. The narrator indicates that before 1945, knitters made more homely, practical pieces like socks and balaclavas. People knitted warm items like this across the UK, Europe and allied nations for the troops fighting abroad during World War II.
