This is a Bond Street perfume advertisement by Yardley scanned from a 1950’s coronation publication that I own. The picture in a chalk sketch style, shows a pair of female gloved hands holding up the Bond Street perfume bottle and its box.
Yardley’s was established in 1770 as a soap and perfumery business in the city of London. Mentions of the name Yardley began 150 years before 1770 but the business details were lost in the Great Fire of London in 1666. The only detail left of the business was that lavender was used to perfume the soap; a signature fragrance Yardley’s still use to this day.
